1. The Food

Like all great travel destinations Borneo has some amazing food and delicious new fruits to try like these Rambutan, Salak or Snake Skin Fruit.

2. Orangutans

See Orang-utans (people of the forest) close up at Sepilok Orang-Utan Rehabilitation Centre.

3. Sunset At Deer Cave

Visit Deer Cave in Mulu National Park, Sarawak to see millions of bats exodus Deer Cave at Sunset.

4. The Friendly Locals

Borneo has a real island mentality and has wonderfully friendly, hospitable locals.

5. MT Kinabalu

Climb Mt Kinabalu the highest peak in South East Asia. Standing at 4095.2m it makes a challenging first 4000m ascent.

6. Kinabatangan River

Take a boat journey on the Kinabatangan, Malaysia’s second longest river, and see a plethora of birds and animals. If you’re really lucky you might catch a glimpse of a Pygmy Elephant.

7. Night-Time Walks

Take a night-time walk in the jungle and see all sorts of interesting creatures of the dark. Take your time, tread lightly, keep quiet and you’ll see things move like these camouflaged lizards and frogs.

8. Wildife, Wildlife And More Wildlife

Borneo has the most diverse flora and fauna on the planet and some incredible creepy crawlies. The vast majority aren’t looking to hurt you, they are just going about their day, like this hermit crab.
