We’ve all witnessed the scenes: a decimated festival wasteland of post-apocalyptic proportions. Broken tents, windows and doors flapping in the wind, overturned cool boxes leaking sweaty sausages onto grassy knolls, body glitter, sleeping mats and flags at jagged angles, with sulphurous fires burning on the horizon. It’s not how any festival should end.
Buy a good-quality tent that you want to look after and use again, pack your rucksack well so that it’s comfortable for when you’re finding your pitch, or bring a wheelbarrow or trolley for the extras. Make the journey back to the car as easy as possible for yourself and leave no trace. If your kit is broken or worn out, take it with you and donate it to charity. Some festivals offer a kit recycling service too, so it’s worth doing your research. Your kit is your responsibility.
