Adventure Films To Keep You Inspired

In these uncertain times, it can be hard to know where to look for inspiration, especially when our beloved outdoors is all but off-limits. But inspiration is never far away, and now is the perfect time to lay tracks and make plans for the epic places we’ll go when it’s time to get back out there. These awe-inspiring films, hand-curated by the organisers of Banff Mountain Film Festival UK, capture everything we love about the outdoors, and are the perfect way to keep the spirit of adventure alive while staying indoors.

We're proud to have been presenting partner of Banff Mountain Film Festival in the UK for the past 8 years. The festival's UK Director, Nell, had this to say about their film choices:

“Over the next few weeks we want to keep everyone inspired for the outdoors by sharing some of our favourite adventure films that haven't been featured on the UK and Ireland Banff Tour. We chose these films in the same way that we select all films for the UK & Ireland Banff Tour - with difficulty because there are so many fantastic films to choose from!

We've decided on a collection that includes a wide range of activities, from trail-running to base-jumping to skiing and more, in a variety of wild, spectacular locations around the world.

But more than that, the films are about the characters, and the stories behind these people who push themselves to the limits. Check out Mirna Valerio, an inspirational ultra-runner who has to fight haters to pursue the sport she loves in The Mirnavator. And we guarantee the eccentric Swiss ski bum known only as Snowflake (in the film of the same name) will have you in stitches - and leave you with a warm, fuzzy feeling.”

Sand in the Sky

In "Sand in the Sky", Ollie's father interviews him about a trip they took to Hawaii the previous year, when Ollie was just 8 months old. The result is a heartwarming insight into the memories we form as babies that influence our passions for the rest of our lives.

The Lorax Project

Six friends embark on a determined quest to climb, and then BASE jump 'The Lorax', a formidable climb on Frenchman's Cap in remote western Tasmania. Surrounded by some of the most pristine wilderness in all of Australia, they contend with extreme weather and rugged terrain, relying on each other's skills and humour to fulfill their mission.

The Last Honey Hunter

In the steep mountain jungles of Nepal’s Hongu river valley, members of the isolated Kulung culture have risked their lives for generations scaling dangerous cliffs to collect a wild and toxic honey. Deep and dark, the film glides through a misty world of forest spirits, dreams, and woodsmoke to share the story of the leader of the harvest and his final journey.
