Montane Clothing for the hills and trails

First Impressions

Dougie: It’s a very nice feeling. My first time is wearing Montane, and I was expecting great quality and great feel. I wasn’t expecting to be so surprised.

It feels great. The fabric is soft and durable. The jacket and shorts look great in any weather. The shorts look comfortable and stretchy, making them ideal for long runs.

Allison: It’s a pleasure to test clothing for Montane. I wear twin skin shorts to prevent chafing and would never have picked a Katla 4 skinless short. A fully waterproof jacket is usually a mandatory kit item, so I have never considered buying a windproof jacket for the trail. Although the Featherlite jacket is beautiful and the Cerulean Blue is a great colour, I’m not sure if it’s worth it.

What is the fit?

Dougie, the jacket and the shorts are right-sized for me straight off the hanger. After looking at the size chart, I decided to go Medium. (I am 5″10, 69kg, and slim) It’s great for running.

Allison: I am a size 8-10 and happily wear a small jacket and shorts. The Montane sizing is smaller, so an XS would be a good fit for petite women.

We think:

Katla 4″ shorts PS45: These shorts have a drawstring waistband and are extremely comfortable. They also feature a rear zip pocket, a drawstring, and rear gel shot pockets. These shorts are lightweight at 85g. At 85g, they are extremely lightweight. I initially hesitated about wearing single-skin shorts when I started using them abroad in 25-degree + conditions. After 5 runs, I stopped using Bodyglide to protect the skin. I then decided to test them without it. They worked great! I have not used any chafe protection since then. They feel great, wash as well, as they do not shrink in the washing machine. These shorts dry quickly and are great for running any distance. These will last me as long as possible to keep them in the UK.

Featherlite Trail jacket – PS70: Although a full waterproof is often a mandatory kit, I have never felt the need for a trail jacket and prefer only to wear a waterproof when it rains hard. A taped waterproof can become too sweaty, while the Featherlite trail jacket is breathable and has underarm vents. The Featherlite Trail jacket is lightweight at only 91g and acts as a wind barrier. Although it is not waterproof, it has Durable Water Repellancy, which will keep you dry even in the smallest shower. This affordable running kit is a joy to wear with its full-length zip and thumb-loop cuffs. You can also store it in one of the pockets, so you don’t have to worry about carrying it around. You may need the Featherlite Trail Jacket to save you from being caught off guard by clouds that build up during your run.

Featherlite Smock PS45: This jacket provides lightweight protection against wind and rain in a compact and lightweight package. The jacket’s most notable feature is its lightweight fabric. It can be used as a wind protector layer or light shower cover. You can also pack it into your pocket and carry it when needed.

Dragon Twin Skin Shorts, PS60: Although it took some time to get used to the shorts, they are a 2-in-1 style that I found very comfortable and had no problems running. You can store your keys, phone gels, and gels in the built-in pockets on the waistband. This feature was almost like a waistbelt that was built into the shorts. It made them feel high-waisted at first. This is a great advantage. You can carry your belongings easily and keep them close to your body. I have always used the Montane Twin Skin Shorts for all types of runs. They are extremely comfortable and easy to wear, regardless of distance or weather conditions.
