Tips to fit your rucksack.

It’s vital that you have the perfect fit when wearing a rucksack as they are not a one-style-suits-all product, and whilst we offer free in-store fittings for rucksacks, we understand that there isn’t always time available to do this, so here are a few tips to fit your chosen rucksack yourself.

First things first know your torso length, this is important as pack makers design their products with your torso in mind. You will need to measure from the largest bump on the back of your neck, with your head forward to a point on your lower back which is horizontal with the top of your hipbones, then apply this to the measurements of the rucksacks you like the look of to judge which size to get.

When you try your rucksack on, it’s best to strap yourself in then have a walk around and play with the adjustments to make sure it’s a suitable fit to your body. Just keep in mind that if it doesn’t feel right wondering round your garden, then it certainly won’t feel right when you’re out on a trek.

Looking after your rucksack

We advise taking good care of all your outdoor adventuring equipment, and when it comes to your rucksack we have a few tips to help take care of your product. Firstly, always use your waterproof cover if it’s raining, and try to dry anything before it goes back into the bag, this can also help save weight; if you can’t avoid this then we have a nice range of wet and dry storage backs to help protect the inside of your rucksack. You can also treat your rucksack regularly with Nikwax waterproofing to help keep water away from your clothes.
